Mr & Mrs Milton were enjoying a quiet night in, watching their favourite soap on the television, when, during the adverts, Mrs Milton went to the kitchen to make a cup of tea, as she opened the kitchen door she was faced with billowing black smoke, she immediately shouted to her husband and being unable to fight the fire they immediately got out of the house and ran next door to call the Fire Brigade.
The fire was quickly extinguished and the property made safe. The Firemen then diligently carried out an investigation into the cause of the fire.
Although the firemen arrived in good time, extensive fire damage had ruined the entire kitchen area and the black sooty smoke had penetrated the entire downstairs and upstairs bedrooms.
Mr & Mrs Milton were re-housed in a local Hotel, then the reinstatement process began.
Firstly the Insurance Company’s Loss Adjuster assess the extent of the damage in association with Clover’s Surveyor who then prepares a Works Schedule and an estimate of the cost.
Once the schedule and cost had been agreed, Clover immediately commenced with the works. Because of the extensive smoke damage, the whole house was emptied of furniture and fittings, the wallpaper throughout the house was stripped off and walls were re-plastered as required.
The whole house was then re-papered and painted, new floor coverings and a replacement kitchen was installed and, most importantly, smoke detectors are now fitted.
The cause of the fire?? - A faulty washing machine.
